How long after whelping does the bitch have a bloody discharge for ?
bj asked:
Our bitch whelped 9 weeks ago and still has a slight bloody discharge although it is not dark or does not smell !
Took her to the vets today who said that she can’t feel anything and she doesnt have a temp and to book in at another vets to do an ultrasound just incase. If she doesnt have a temp does this mean she won’t have an infection, not sure I trust the vet !

It is good that is does not smell, but 9 weeks is still too long (two weeks is about average, and sometimes up to 4 weeks). Best take her to a vet and see what is going on. Have you checked her temperature to make sure she does not have an infection (103 degrees or above)?

That is not normal. Please take her to the vet immediately!

thats not too good. take her to the vet. might be a uterine infection. if it is be prepared to have her spayed. good luck and hope its nothing serious.

They usually only bleed for a couple of weeks, 9 weeks is way to long.
Was she given a shot of Oxytocin to clear her out when she finished whelping, maybe she still has some gunk in there.
See a vet ASAP
